Flight Procedures
Recommended flight characteristics for SWVA Group Flights
****All the following apply unless otherwise instructed by
ATC. These guidelines are set to
help keep our group flights organized and safe****
Departing
1 At uncontrolled airports all departing SWVA aircraft will use a
minimum of 2 minutes of spacing prior to departing while following another
aircraft, unless instructed otherwise by ATC.
Climb
1
No turns
prior to 10 miles RWY hdg, unless instructed otherwise by ATC.

Do not
exceed 210kts on the climb if proceeding away from destination and, or if below
3000 AGL.

250-knot
climb above 3000 AGL when turning on course or on course.

Maintain
280/.074 mach max climb speed above 10000 AGL adjusting pitch as necessary to
maintain that speed till leveling off at cruise altitude.
Cruise
1 Minimum
safe separation from other aircraft is10 NM or more unless otherwise instructed
by ATC.
2 Max
cruise speed of mach .076 for all aircraft to keep proper separation! Captain
may have to adjust speed to keep proper separation though!
Descent
1
Attain 280
knots and maintain this speed till 10000 AGL.
2
Below 10000 AGL maintain 250 knots or below till entering class B
airspace.
3
Class B
airspace maintain 210 knots or below.
Holding if instructed to do so
1
200 knots up
to and including 6000 AGL.
2
230 knots
above 6000 through 14,000.
3
265 knots
above 14,000.
